Decolonization Protocols

Post by Fenway »

Some time after its official establishment, Argentina finally got around to starting official diplomatic relations with the various nations of the world, including the EAK.
Her Majesty Catherine Victoria Akinyi,

The Republic of Argentina would like to extend a hand of friendship to our African brothers and sisters, former nations of a colonized world, now free. Though our countries differ extensively, I believe we have common ground in the pursuit of betterment for our people--and mutual relations would not go amiss while pursuing such. We humbly request to send an envoy to the East African Kingdom at your earliest convenience.

President Peron,

In times such as these, no nation can have too many friends. It would be my honour to accept, on behalf of the people of East Africa, an envoy from the Argentine Republic. I ask that you be gracious enough to allow us to establish our own embassy within your nation, so that our friendship may truly blossom.

Her Majesty Catherine Victoria Akinyi,

It would be our pleasure to have an embassy within our nation. Lets hope this is the start to a beautiful friendship between our countries.

~Ruben Peron
With the EAK's acceptance, an envoy was dispatched (almost getting lost in the Atlantic along the way due to an unexpected storm) within short order. Ruben Peron himself was far too busy to meet another nation, and so his newly-appointed Head of Foreign Affairs, Evelyn Santos, would be leading the delegation, along with appropriate translators and a token escort. They arrived in Dar Es Salaam by aircraft, ready to meet the East African delegation.

The Argentine delegation was greeted by a group of guards from the Royal Army Ground Service, along with several members of the Foreign Ministry. The greeting party escorted their visitors to the offices of the Foreign Minister, which were housed in the Royal Towers, the centrepiece of Dar Es Salaam. The offices were lavishly furnished, and Evelyn was offered every courtesy and comfort.

Foreign Minister Grace Ramogi entered the meeting room that the Argentines had been brought to and offered a polite greeting to her counterpart. “Welcome to the East African Kingdom, on behalf of Her Majesty, Queen Catharine. I look forward to establishing friendly relations between our nations.”

"It is an honor to be here--Dar Es Saleem is very beautiful, and you possess many luxuries we do not have in Buenos Aires." Evelyn settled herself with a cup of tea after exchanging a greeting with Grace Ramogi, crossing her legs as she did so. "I'm sure we will have many things to discuss, as we move forward with our negotiations."

“Ah, yes, luxury. Her Majesty, Queen Catharine, decreed that we should all strive to live in luxury when we can. The colonialists tried to strip us of our resources, and by indulging ourselves like this, we show to them and to ourselves that they failed. That we still have our wealth. And that they failed to crush our spirit.” Grace poured herself a cup of coffee, adding a small amount of honey to it, and raised her cup in salute to the other woman. “Our nations are far from one another,” she said, “but I hope that distance does not impede our friendship. Perhaps you could inform me as to what your esteemed President Peron plans to do, now that you’ve thrown off the shackles of the colonials?”

"Reconstruction. The betterment of our people's lives. And, of course, the expansion of our influence." Evelyn raised her own cup of tea and took a small sip. "Argentina has always been a footnote in global affairs--a far southern country nobody pays attention to unless they want something from us. Peron has plans to change that, of course."

“These are all worthy goals,” Grace said with a smile. “We share a similar view of our efforts. Reunifying our lost lands and rebuilding them. Though Queen Catharine is also looking to spread peace to the world. She’s been rather successful at it so far. Through her efforts, we’ve ended wars in the former United States and Iran. Peace and prosperity, two sides of the same coin, and we intend to spread them as far and wide as we can. Having more friends always helps in these endeavours.”
