The United Nations
Re: The United Nations
Italy is in favor of Korea's proposed alteration, but not the unmodified proposal. Italy's delegate asserts that while landmines do pose a serious threat, they're invaluable area denial weapons, and the increase in the use of other munitions, especially cluster munitions, in compensation would pose just as big of a threat as the landmines would, as they would leave large amounts of armed, but unexploded ordnance.
Re: The United Nations
The Republic of China is willing to support the altered resolution put forward by the representative of the Federation of Korea.

Victoria hesitantly agrees with the Korean proposal. As a first step toward making the world safer.
Re: The United Nations
The Representative of the Republic of China calls a closed meeting of the General Assembly.
Behind closed doors, he discloses the Republic's previous antagonistic dealings with the so-called "Sombra Collective", its attacks on Chinese counter-intelligence services (unnamed, but assumed to be Juntong), and its repeated attempts to blackmail the government of the Republic in exchange for resources or cash payment.
"By now, your governments should have received evidence our campaign against this organisation, one which we believe to be a menace not only to our own national security but the security of the world. We believe that recent attempts to cause tension and armed conflict in Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, and along the Indo-Tibetan border may have been caused by this group. Its attempts to suborn Republic of China Special Operations Command assets for its own agenda indicates that it intends to continue along this course of action, as does - I am sure - evidence which many of your own intelligence services might similarly provide."

Re: The United Nations
The Aragonese representative produced what little documentation Aragon's own intelligence service has on Sombra, which indicates that they were active within areas of France prior to the civil war and have delivered at least one cryptic threat directly to La Princesa Real in the past, though details and motivation of these activities are unknown to Aragon.

Re: The United Nations
Various other governments hand over what they have concerning the Sombra Collective, which admittedly isn't nearly as much as what China and Aragon offer. Soviet analysis indicates that the Collective is wide-spread and most likely infiltrated most major governments as early as 1958, which Indian records agree with.

Re: The United Nations
The SRA shares the information it has regarding Sombra's operations in the former Cascadia and Taiwan, indicating it has been hunting down a particularly aggressive cell in southern California for the past four years.

Re: The United Nations
"The Socialist Republics of America watches the events of Austria unfolding with some concern. The current civil war raging within the small Central European state has the capacity to spread further to neighboring states, and already we are seeing interventions by third parties that are wholly uninvolved in the situation. Atlanta proposes that a UN peacekeeping force is dispatched to Austria to quell the violence and support the creation of a truly democratic state which is neither fascist, communist or monarchist and exists for the people, by the people."

Re: The United Nations
The SRA proposes the course of action already being undertaken by WEST, and speaking for multiple such neighbouring states, the situation will be under control shortly. A UN deployment would be superfluous, though we have no opposition to it on principle. As such, should this assembly see fit to make such a commitment with the intent described by the American representative, the UN would have our cooperation.
