Lord of War

Post by Joefesok »

Madagascorp presumed that it was a calm day out in the Sonoran Federation, apart from the death on a massive scale, since the islands still evidently existed and the UN was rumored to already be planning a move. On this assumption they sent a request to the Sonoran Federation to open diplomatic channels, specifically stating that "Our CEO is very interested in your struggle," and "We have plenty of top-of-the-line military hardware to offer for your cause," among a more than slightly excessive amount of language expressing praise.

A message was sent back indicating that a Sonoran official would be able to find the time to meet at the Sonoran embassy in Antananarivo to discuss potential defense options.

An official from Madagascorp scheduled a meeting the same day and arrived roughly on time, before getting straight to business and laying down Madagascorp's offer; "I'm gonna be perfectly honest with you, our guys don't have much confidence in your technology. I'm sorry! Really!" the diplomat belted out, throwing their hands around hurriedly, "But you guys are just behind the curve. Continuing with my honesty, we have some hardware we think you would greatly appreciate should push come to shove... again. Highly modern fighters and an exceptional inventory of anti-air pieces and artillery. What do you say?"

The Sonoran official gave a blank look. "If I may be so bold, what kind of sales pitch is that? Can your weapons be effective enough to match the Imperial Air Force in quality if we can't guarantee numerical parity?"

The Madagascorp representative stares back with a slightly noticeable attempt at an equally blank expression, before remarking "I'm practically insulted. Our new Mirage F1 series is the top of the game," the representative belts off before diving for his suitcase, producing a tech sheet and continuing, "...This paper can tell you why in detail. I know the things are fast, and the missiles we send them with are great, but you could probably get this back to your eggheads and ask how much of an improvement it is, have 'em begging for you to take my offer." Folding his hands together, he continues "In terms of support pieces, we have a fairly wide array of anti-air platforms to offer, covering short and long range. Older Nike Hercules missiles you folks might be familiar with, and these newer missiles called I-Hawks. Supposed to be incredible provided they're in range," the official finished as he fished for another few tech documents. "Now, I'm not going to lie to your face and tell you our weapons are so good that a small inventory of them could swing the war so far in your favor you could go knock down El Presidente's palace- or whatever their guy goes by- but it'd be a hell of a punch in the nose and help you keep your boys alive."

"Provided they're in range is not precisely a ringing endorsement. What else other than the Mirage F1 can you offer?"

"I'm curious what else you could be interested in, frankly. The Mirage is an excellent tool in interception roles and to my knowledge, we could ship munitions for a ground attack role as well." The representative drums his fingers against the table before remarking, "If munitions are your concern, the thing is rigged to be backwards compatible with those ubiquitous AIM-9s, although we prefer to equip them with our inhouse R550s. Finally, I suppose if the price point is concerning, we have an inventory of Mirage IIIs in the process of being phased out."

"We are interested primarily in interceptors to engage Imperial bomber units and low-cost and low-maintenance fighter jets to supplement our existing stock. I expect that with current budget constraints, we can afford a few dozen of each plane, but no more and definitely not land-based air defenses given the speed Mexican forces have displayed in engaging our country."

"Then maybe the Mirage III series is your style. They're capable interceptors, able to hit strategic bombers with ease despite their age, and that age should make them more serviceable. Given your predicament, we could also work to get you folks a lower price for a shipment of a few dozen."

"Very well. For now, at least, we are interested in two wing's worth of these jets, though these other offerings may also be of interest. I'll forward them to my government and they'll contact you if there is any other business to be done."

OOC: The Sonoran Federation is interested in purchasing 2 units of Fighters from Madagascorp.
