The Kingdom of Italy puts forth evidence that overzealous Communist border guards have a history of aggressive conduct and border violations, such as building outposts on the Kingdom's territory. Their declaration of war, they posit, is a natural war of self-defense.

The Socialist Republic of Italy provides its own evidence that it has done no such thing and the Kingdom's declaration came rather suddenly and with no attempt at communication to resolve border disputes. Furthermore, they show evidence that the Kingdom has supported several assassinations of prominent Socialist Republic officials in the past two years.

Almost as a footnote, the Leppälä-Benedek Report is released. The results are inconclusive, and they cannot determine who destroyed the Indian Navy.

Victoria's delegate took time to meet with representatives of both Italies in private, asking them both the simple question: "Why should Queen Catharine support you?"

The Kingdom's delegates claim that the Communists have committed atrocities against their own people, and their aggressive knows no bounds. Obviously, their next target will be Austria and then the Balkans, until they turn all of Europe red hand in hand with the French and Russians.

The Socialist Republic of Italy claims nothing except it is only defending itself from aggression, and attempts at peace have been rejected by the Kingdom.

The Korean ambassador requests a deployment of the UNDF to Bangladesh to assist in stabilizing the region, and to assist in combating the spread of the German Flu.

Victoria's UNDF forces will remain in Bangladesh, alongside the Red Cross, for the duration of the plague outbreak.

The Russian Empire hereby requests UN assistance, primarily in the form of harsh sanctions and potential military action, against the USSR as it has invaded the Empire and shows no signs of stopping.

North Kaz also requests UN assistance, primarily in putting an end to violence in Kazakhstan which has now spilled over to North Kaz.

Korea indicates it is in favour of an intervention in Kazakhstan, and willing to enact sanctions against the Soviet Union for its wanton aggression. Additionally, the Korean representative moves to hold a vote to begin a UNDF deployment to assist the Russian Empire.

When the delegate for the Republic of China took the floor, the General Assembly did not see the hulking, broad-shouldered form of Dong Yin. No, the delegate was a small, imperious woman, with the care-worn face of a grandmother and the hard gaze of an empress. She was dressed in the same sort of tailored suit jacket which almost every delegate to the UN wore, but even so, there was still no mistaking her.

The Widow had come to address the UN in person.

"Honoured delegates," she began, her voice the steady calm of a coiled spring. "Under normal circumstances, it is not the business of one country to determine who has the right to reunite another. Indeed, for China to do so when we have knit together our own people through bloody warfare would seem the height of hypocrisy."

She waited a moment for the quiet nods to resolve themselves, for the good-feeling to drain out of the chamber until only the tension remained. The Widow did not fly herself all the way from Guangzhou just to make a few platitudes about the sanctity of national sovereignty...

"However, these are not normal circumstances. Had the Soviet Union demonstrated itself a law-abiding member of the family of nations, we would have accepted its bid to reunify its former territories - not altogether happily, for such actions almost necessarily result in great loss of life - but we would have accepted it all the same. If the Soviet Union had proven that would be a responsible actor on the world stage, we would have no grounds to object to its current actions."

The Widow shook her head slowly, sadly, like a girl about to put down her favourite dog. "Would that it were so."

The folder that appeared in her hand seemed to have come from nowhere, only to flash into existence, thick and heavy with the same foreboding that clouded the Widow's gaze. "I regret to inform you, Honoured delegates, that the Soviet Union has not proven itself a responsible actor. Here is the proof: they have funded unrest and terrorism in unaligned countries, assassinated the diplomats of those they consider their enemies, used violence and corruption to reduce their supposed friends to little more than glorified colonies. They have used military force to visit death and destruction on peoples they once called their allies. They have supported the use of indiscriminate slaughter and chemical weaponry in the place of diplomacy and mutual aid."

She swept the room with her gaze, in that curious, terrible way which could make an entire crowd feel like this one woman was striking steel nails into their soul.

"A long time ago, when China was weak and I was young. My father stood before this organisation's predecessor, and warned of another country which was doing then what the Soviet Union is doing now. Nobody listened. This was not their business, they decided to themselves. It was not their place to condemn, let alone to act. It has taken us a generation to recover from the sorrow which followed. The world, in its contrition, had resolved never to allow such a thing to happen again. Now is the time to see if such oaths were worth anything more than the air they were spoken on, if the grief it had expended then was real, or the mere platitudes of dishonest men."

Her voice dropped to a whisper now, just loud enough to be heard. The kind of whisper one uses when one knows everyone is listening.

"The Soviet Union is a mad animal, and mad animals must be put down the instant they begin to bite. Never again must we forget that. The Republic of China moves that the General Assembly authorise a full-scale United Nations police action against the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, not only for the sake of its victims, but for the peace of the world."

The Aragonese representative makes it clear that Aragon is in favour of a UNDF deployment against the Soviet Union and intervention in Kazakhstan.

"The Socialist Republics of America is vehemently against UN action against the Soviet people under false pretenses such as these. We in Atlanta can prove the Soviet actions outlined in China was the work of Cascadia prior to their joining the Socialist Republics; copies of Cascadian National Intelligence Agency documents which clearly match the methods and details put forth by the Chinese show this is the case are being distributed now."
