Work has begun on four Audacious-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers to replace the aging Essex-class currently in service. The first three ships are expected to complete in 1968, with another two following in 1971; in the meantime, the Barigongju and Maehwa-class fleet carriers will be phased out to free up personnel, aircraft, and funding for the new hulls.

General,

Progress on the 30mm autocannon from the JUMP program has functionally concluded; some details on production need ironing out, but all design and testing-phase objectives are complete. As I imagine you can guess, the Chinese declined the Leopard; the director of their half of the team informed me they were looking more towards a successor design, which I concede seems premature but I've agreed not to press the issue.

Additionally, the Shrike AH.2 prototype has completed its first flight trials successfully; aside the myriad of minor quibbles the test pilots have, the twin-engine layout looks to have solved the weight and lift issues of the AH.1 prototypes. The Chinese have indicated their intent to adopt the design once the outstanding issues are solved; I strongly recommend we do likewise. Bluntly, the Gyrfalcon is a transport, not a gunship, and their inability to even hover while loaded should have been a red flag that cost someone their career.

On a final note, the TOW missile platform is entering final-stage testing; aside issues with the missile abruptly deciding to join the space program, accuracy consistently bests even the latest models of MCLOS missiles. Here, however, the Chinese have noted a preference for the smaller Type 61 ATGM, given its vastly more infantry-friendly size and weight.

This concludes my updates for this cycle.

Admiral,

Pleased to report nuclear attack submarines Sachiel, Shamshel, Ramiel, and Gaghiel have completed trials and are now commissioned into the Navy. Additionally, Audacious, Aggressor, and Amorous have completed work-up and are joining their respective fleet assignments.

Four more Sachiel-class hulls have been laid down, and reports indicate that Adroit and Angelic are on-schedule for completion next year.

Sir,

Procurement of the Shrike AH.2 attack helicopter is underway; orders have been issued for the upgrading of our extant Gyrfalcon AH.5s to Shrikes, and an additional squadron is being created to bolster our force.

Director,

Our assembly schedule for the year has been drawn up, as follows;

-10 military satellites; split into 6 visual reconnaissance and 4 communications intelligence units
-6 test capsules; all to be fitted with the Test Docking Adapter for in-orbit RVAD experiments
-2 space station modules, tentatively dubbed Endeavour and Discovery
-3 Infra-red deep-space telescopes

Providing no major failures, all should be ready for launch by 1972.
