Bangladeshi Civil War

Dissidents, primarily a mix of anarchist communes, royalist nationalists, and social democrats, have initiated a total coup - which has of course, descended into a four-way civil war. Each side claims legitimacy, stating that they alone represent the will of the people as arms from foreign states continue to flood in. Prominent among the chaos is a clear foreign funder backing at least one of the powers, but who that is remains to be seen.

The people's republic of Iran sends 2 light warships, 1 medium warships, 2 heavy carriers and 3 escort carriers to the sea, for exercises and to observe the situation.

"King Karamchand cannot tolerate an active civil war on the border with his glorious and peaceful kingdom. Therefore, the Royal Indian Army shall begin operations at once to secure peace in Bangladesh, and ensure this conflict does not spill over to other areas on the Indian subcontinent. Those who do not have a true, vested interest in the affairs of the Indian subcontinent are well-advised to stay away, and we warn that that Kingdom will react harshly to illegal incursions and operations. We in Visakhapatnam hope to see a quick end to this civil war, which can only happen with the destruction of the illegitimate and criminal Communist government."

Immediately following the declaration, the Kingdom of India began to cross over into Bangladesh, securing major cities and rivers on the western half of the country as Communist forces began to retreat, focused on destroying the anarchists in the north and around the capital. Aerial and naval campaigns began immediately, aiming to seal the country off from any outside help.

The Victorian RAPS, stationed in China, took to the air for a simple task. Their fighters, refuelled as needed in the air, crossed into Bangladesh over the territory held by the Social Democrats. The faction was forewarned that assistance was coming, and the RAPS took clear efforts not to harm any SocDem forces.

Instead, Victoria’s pilots flew deeper into the war-torn country, hunting the remnants of the Communist air force. They looked to take the skies for Victoria and its chosen side in the conflict, and would not shy away from conflict with any of the powers vying for control. Communists, Anarchists, Monarchists, Indians… All would be thrown from the skies in the name of Victoria.

The initial assault was flown by the Air Superiority Groups, using the eyes and ears of the RIP to determine where enemy positions were. They were followed by ground attack fighters, acting in tandem with SocDem forces. Two groups of Interceptors remained in the SocDem territory to defend it against attack by enemies.

And at last, the Seraphim flew on the heels of the air superiority Groups. The full might of Victoria’s bombers, engaged in precision attacks aimed at the enemy’s military units and infrastructure rather than mass Judgment, flew at the enemy.

A simple warning to stay away from the Bangladeshi coast was issued to the Indian Navy, followed shortly by a Federal Korean Navy battlegroup sailing into the Indian Ocean and taking up position off Bangladesh. While they wouldn't engage unless provoked, they would engage any Indian warship approaching the coast, and inspect all cargo ships not flagged as Victorian, Korean, or Chinese that indicated an intent to dock in Bangladesh.

Combat Results

The Bangladeshi Government attacked the anarchists, SocDems, monarchists, and Indian forces. No attacks were attempted against Victorian forces. In their attacks, the Bangladeshi Government rolled a 7, 3 and a 10 for ground, air and naval actions, respectively. This results in 1 unit of ground losses, 2 units of ground damages, 1 unit of air losses, 2 units of air damages, 1 unit of naval losses and 1 unit of naval damages for defending forces. A bombing campaign resulted in an additional 1 unit of ground losses and 1 unit of ground damages for defending forces.

Bangladeshi Anarchists attacked Indian forces. They rolled a 1 for ground actions, resulting in 6 units of ground losses and 7 units of ground damages for India.

Bangladeshi SocDems attack anarchists and Government forces. In their attacks, they rolled a 3 and 5 for ground and air actions, respectively. This results in 2 units of ground losses, 3 units of ground damages, 1 unit of air losses, and 1 unit of air damage for the anarchists and Government.

May 1966 proved to be a violent month for Bangladesh. Anarchist forces stalled an Indian offensive entirely in the province of Rajshani, destroying an entire Indian army group for their valiant defenses but losing the northern part of the capital of Dhaka to a strenuous government offensive. Similarly, a series of offensives from the social democrats and monarchists forced the government's hand, causing it to cede ground elsewhere as Indian forces invaded and tore their way through thr western part of the country.

All was going fairly well until Victoria came in.

Monarchist, anarchist, communist, Indian and government forces alike received a healthy does of Victorian bombings, which immediately were assuaged by the assistance of the Eternal Flame who very much would rather not see their brothers and husbands die in a pointless war when it all could be ended so very quickly. Monarchist planes soon found themselves grounded by a deluge of bombs, while Indian forces attempting to break anarchist communes north of the capital found themselves under daily attack from both the anarchists and Victoria. The only refuge was out at sea, where the Indian and Bangladeshi navies clashed, with monarchist patrol boats standing idly by, waiting for their time to strike.

As May turned to June, the chaos of fighting slowed down. The monsoon was soon approaching, threatening to cause severe flooding that put an end to any ideas of military operations - for a few months, at least.

OOC: Heavy rain affects the entire country. Any combat that occurs during the next two rounds of posting will sustain a penalty to Terrain and Support advantages due to the inclement weather and flooding potential.

Citing horrific combat losses, Indian forces withdraw on June 15th. Indian naval ships head back to port.

An unknown group of submarines opens fire on the Indian Navy as it retreats to port. The unknown attacker rolled a 1 in their attacks, resulting in 5 units of naval losses and 6 units of naval damages for the Kingdom of India.

Government, Monarchist, Anarchist and Social Democrat forces do not attempt major maneuvers, finding operations hampered by the intense rain and flooding.

The Bangladeshi government begins building up on the pocket of Anarchist forces north of the capital with armor and infantry, aiming to cut it in half and annihilate it. A similar buildup occurs on the hazy border with the Social Democrats, composed primarily of motorized infantry.

Anarchist forces occupy former Indian positions in the west, while also collecting weapons from fallen Indian soldiers to use against the Social Democrats and government.

The Social Democrats ask Victoria and other supporting nations for armored vehicles, hoping to secure the northwest from the Anarchists.

Monarchist forces prepare to launch a renewed summer offensive as soon as the rain stops falling, aimed primarily at the government.
