Communist Information Bureau

Post by Markus Wilding »

A message was sent to all nations and socialist/communist parties that had recently come out of quarantine;
To our comrades abroad,

The Socialist Republics of America would like to formally invite a delegation of your workers and party leadership to Atlanta for a conference of Communist and Socialist aligned nations and parties during the week of September 4-10, 1950, in order to gain a better understanding of our comrades abroad. Lodging can be provided for visiting delegations, as well as any other comforts that may be necessary. All delegations are invited to also set up an embassy in Atlanta, if one does not already exist for your nation.

It is our sincere hope that together we can continue to build up friendly relations between the Communists of the world and that through greater understanding, global revolution can be achieved.

Sincerely,
Secretary of State Wesley Marchegiano
OOC: Basically, if you're either communist or want to send a socialist/communist party, this thread is open to you.

A letter is sent back sealed with the Symbol of Barovia (The outline of a castle and a flying raven)

Honor to you Mr. Marchegiano,

My heart soared upon reading your letter, We of Barovia fully believe in the glory of Communism and would be honored to join in your conference.
I will send along my Minister of Forign Affairs, Arrigal Luvash, and the Party Chairman, Kasimir Velikov. They have my full support to give aid and make deals that they feel would benefit Barovia and Communism as a whole.

They will also take part in setting up the embassy in Atlanta and we would be honored if your government and all other allies set up embassies here in Barovia.

I look forward to our great nations working together toword a common goal.

Sincerely
Count Strahd von Zorovich

A contingent of the minuscule Japanese Communist Party accepted the invitation and would make themselves known as observers, while attempting to schmooze for influence in the international community.

With the Barovians and Soviets assigned to their various rooms in the Glenn Hotel in downtown Atlanta, the actual meeting could begin in earnest. The delegation was informed that the next morning, the Secretary of State and President Wood would be present to officially open the ComInform, as well as open discussion for the day.

On the prescribed morning, all manners of finger foods and drinks such as coffee, water, tea and other refreshments required for the delegates was provided, with representatives from all corners of the SRA in the assembly hall alongside the Secretary of State and President Wood. At 10 AM, the proceedings opened with a singing of the Internationale, with each delegation encouraged to sing in their native languages.

Once the Internationale ended, President Wood stood at the podium, preparing several notes on it as he cleared his throat to speak.

"Comrades, I wish to welcome you all to the Socialist Republics of America, the jewel of North America. It is my great pleasure to have the honor of hosting you all in my very own hometown, where the American revolution began in earnest. The Socialist Republics of America is honored to be hosting comrades from Europe, South America, and even Asia today. It is our hope that together, the socialist and Communist states of the world can join together and find common friends to support them in troubling times, and if necessary, assistance for other goals our collective peoples and workers desire.

Comrades, I would like to begin today's proceedings by opening the floor. Comrades, what issues do you face in your corners of the world? How can we help you? Is there some way, some how, one of your comrades here today can help you reach your goals or achieve the dreams of your workers?"

My dear Comrade I am in fear of 2 threats one from the south that is looming over me of those who have newly created their name after the United states then I have the fear of those democratic whelps that are shown through on the small island of Japan they seem to be an impeding force to stop me from my roaming of spreading true communism around my land of Siberia with this I shall ask for assistance to put down those of the south if they dare enter my land of Siberia and shall be squashed into the ground like the bugs they are and if those of the seas dare oppose me I hope that we shall blow them to pieces as their weak infantry enter my land.

The pair of delagates from Barovia were as different as two men could be.
Arrigal Luvash, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Was a tall thin man with a Sharp Goatee and his dark hair pulled into a ponytail. He wore a light gray three piece suit with a white shirt and red tie.
Kasimir Velikov, The Party Chairman, Was shorter slightly overweight, clean shaven with short dark hair, wore a black suit jacket and slacks with a red shirt and black tie.

Arrigal Stands before the assembly looking over them with dark eyes. "First i would be honored to thank our gracious hosts (bows toward President Wood) and greetings to our friends from the U.S.S.R. I have come here with the full confidence and authority of the Barovian government. Through the glorious vision of Strahd von Zorovich Barovia seems to have been settled far away from the prying eyes of other major countries. However the smaller countries we are surrounded by will need our.. protection and should be brought under Barovian rule. Any assistance in helping our communist message spread will of course be returned."

There were two delegates from China. Comrade Jiang, a party member instrumental for reforming the Chinese Communist Party, and Comrade Li, his translator. Having remained silent until now, Comrade Jiang began to speak.

"As a reformer of the Chinese Communist Party, I must stress that we get nowhere by making our capitalist neighbors our enemies and bogeymen. The world has already been destroyed once over--must we do it again over ideologies?" He waited for Li to finish translating, before continuing.

"We should promote our ideology through peace and cooperation. Not pointless violence with those that do not share our system."
You know who I am.

"Yes, we in the SRA must agree with our Chinese comrades," Secretary of State Marchegiano said. "War and violence are antithetical to the goals of Communism, and distasteful to us in the Republics as a means to spread the revolution further. We should be seeking to build the world up, not tear it down once again. That said, I am aware that there are certain elements in my own party to begin campaigns to unite so-called 'lost republics' that make up the majority of former American states - as the de facto successor of the United States of America, this is our right, just as it is the right of the Soviets represented here to expand to their natural borders. However, doing it in the name of Communism does nothing but call back to the '30s, when the Western world feared Soviet influence in their national elections and had nightmares of Communist rebellions borne out of outside influence. No, comrades, change must come naturally, and while all peoples move forward in their own way, we must find ways to cooperate to safeguard one another and help those who ask for our assistance. We cannot allow the new era to usher in a new wave of suspicion of Communist motives and ideals."

With no significant progress made, or even any resolutions reached, Cominform reached its conclusion, with a reinvitation promised for later in 1952 to meet again and, hopefully, find common ground.
