Communique from Iran's foreign ministry:

"We have been monitoring the situation in Kazakhstan. We are not impressed by the outright slaughter of Kazakh militants, even if they are fascist. it represents too easily a willingness to resolve the situation by force. We cannot abide this.

Therefore, The president and the air marshall have today decided to enact a no-fly zone from the straight of hormuz, to the coast of kazakhstan."

"Additionally, all of our forces in the area of kazakhstan are now on the highest alert. We hope for a peaceful solution, but realize that may not be practicable."

A short message was broadcast in response to Iran's communique: "Any interference with Victorian military and Red Cross personnel during this United Nations sanctioned operation will be treated as an act of aggression against Victoria. We will not tolerate any effort to derail the ongoing peacekeeping operations."

The Korean and Chinese representatives sent to General Towner's field HQ were escorted in amid a flurry of activity - apparently the 101st and 82nd were planning on becoming active, judging by the smattering of weapons cleaning and maintenance that was ongoing in the camp. The General's tent itself had a map of Kazakhstan on it, with markers denoting known enemy positions - among other things. Staff officers spoke in hushed tones to one another, relaying news and reports, all the while the General himself stood over the map, smoking a cigarette. "Gentlemen, welcome to Camp Hector. I'm sure you've heard about the kerfuffle over in the west between the communists, fascists and Victorians. I believe it's high time we start taking action - tomorrow, I'm ordering my men into the capital to see if they can't find any activity and start knocking in doors to find these fascists and anarchist clowns. I'd appreciate assistance, especially given we're meant to be allies and all."

"We're in," Xue Yue replied immediately. "Our patrols will follow up after yours. We've been talking with the Kazakh government, and they're willing to let use take some of their own troops with them. They know the ground better than we do, and the locals'll have a chance to get used to the idea of their own guys patrolling the streets once we're gone."

"Can't say I'm fond of the prospect of using line troops as law enforcement, but I can chip in." Sakoung returned after a moment's contemplation. "I'm going to hold my air and most of my mechanized assets in reserve; my staff are working up a plan to start establishing a presence further afield, so I can detail you Fifth Regiment of the mechanized, but that's about it for the moment."
