The United States of Asia entered into an arms agreement to help modernize the Romanian military. Significant headway was achieved, while in exchange the Romanian Air and Sea force collaborated with the USA in their invasion of Turkey. Following the Collapse of the US government and the summary execution of Romania's ambassador, relations were terminated.

Summary:
Romania emerged out of the second world war a broken state, decimated by allied bombing and a three-year soviet occupation. At the outbreak of the plague, the USSR collapsed, but not before they eliminated the entire Romanian political structure. The result of this was the formation of a completely new populist government, violently espousing a mixture of fascist and democratic elements, and driving the disorganized soviets out. Their glory was short lived, as the state was immediately put into quarantine. Important figures holed up in the Carpathian mountains, the new government seizing castles to act as fortified headquarters as the plague swept the low country.
During nearly a decade of internal turmoil and a prolonged war with Moldova, Romania succeeded in annexing Moldova and winning the 1956 Olympics of the SRA. During the January of 1957, Conducător Nicolae Iolanda was assassinated while driving through Bucharest. Following the simultaneous abduction of King Michael, the Kingdom of Romania split apart, effectively ending the state as it existed.
Government:
Monarch: King Michael I
Conducător (Prime Minister): Nicolae Iolanda
Popularity: 40%
Legionary Romania was a far-right authoritarian party, advocating a powerful militant state. Extremely nationalistic, they sought to first secure their control of Romanian politics, and then expand the Kingdom of Romania into a powerful Balkan Empire.
Leader of the National Peasants' Party: Constantin Moraru
Popularity: 43%
The National Peasants' Party was a moderate-right party, advocating a traditional, democratic state. Supported by King Michael, they placed particular emphasis on christian virtues and human rights.
Leader of the PCR (Romanian Communist Party): Martin Petrescu
Popularity: 17%
The PCR was an underground far-left movement. Martin Petrescu hardly represented this elusive and decentralized organization. Composed of ideological fanatics and soviet elements left over after the quarantine, the PCR relied on riots and sabotage to accomplish their missives.
Economy:
Natural resources: Iron ore, oil, coal, salt, uranium, nickel, copper, minerals, natural gas
Chief exports: Grain, timber, petroleum, animal products, minerals
Chief imports: Equipment, machinery, vehicles
Minister of Economy: Costin Murgescu
Focuses: Industrialization, land reform
Romania's industry was largely privatized, although the government wielded a heavy hand in selecting which companies were permitted to operate. Although rich in minerals, most export came from agriculture and logging.
Military:
Marshall: Nicolae Iolanda
Blindat- Commandant: Vasile Atanasiu
-1,500 Armoured
-4,500 Mechanized (45000 Infantry)
The effective blitzkrieg tactics of the second World War demonstrated the value of rapid mechanized assault. The Blindat division was an armored spearhead, designed to punch though front lines and rapidly encircle enemy troops. A mixture of salvaged soviet guns on Romanian chassis's and German tanks left from the war, accompanied by a variety of garrisoned APC's and half-tracks.
Infanterie- General: Ioan Arhip
-150,000 Infantry
-2,400 Artillery
Infantry is the backbone of any modern army, relying on excellent planning and a trained core of soldiers. Armed with WW2 technology, including a wide variety of support equipment. Capable of defending a line or slow, artillery supported advances.
Câini de Fier-Cap: Horia Sima
-120,000 Militia
They called themselves the Iron Dogs- a ragtag mixture of zealots, nationalists, and fanatics. Armed with a hodgepodge variety of equipment, ranging from rifles to halberds, this organization was responsible for pushing out the soviets and seizing control of Romania during the quarantine. Fiercely loyal, they acted as internal police and a home guard.
Aer Forta- Căpitan: Emanoil Ionescu
-400 Fighters
-160 Bombers
The Romanian Air Force was both modern and greatly esteemed; during the allied bombing, it proved effective at causing great losses- particularly during operation Tidal Wave, a disaster for allied forces.
Flota Mării Negre- Amiral: Horia Macellariu
-12 Medium Warships
-24 Light Warships
-80 Coastal Warships
-30 Submarines (Conventional)
The Black Sea Fleet was a small, but formidable navy. With German, soviet, and Romanian components, it was an effective coastal guard bolstered by a significant submarine contingent. Romania had no interest in the open ocean, but securing the Mediterranean and Black Sea were essential moves for national security.

Romania was embroiled in a civil war from 1958 - 1960. Although the fascist Nationalist Front under Horia Sima gained the upper hand initially, the combined efforts of Democratic Romania, Korea, China, Victoria, and the SRA smashed the Nationalist Front. Afterwards, a referendum was decided upon in Victorian-SRA occupied Moldova, while Atanasiu led the formation of a new government.

Economy / Military Summary:
At the outset of the war, the Old Guard army siezed control of Bucharest and the low country, and attempted to secure major cities and particularly the oilfields at Ploiești. Had they been successful, the war might never have happened. Unfortunately, the fascists rebuffed many of the coups, maintaining control of the Carpathian mountains, Moldova, and the oil. The Old Guard was smaller than Sima's army and armed with outdated equipment, but they made up for this with excessive veterancy- Sima's army arrived at the very end of the Moldovan war, earning little in the way of experience. Combined with this, Vasile Atanasiu commanded a larger share of the Navy and Air Force. With intervention from outside allies, the Democratic Union proved Victorious

Economy / Military Summary:
At the outbreak of the war, the Bluehats occupied the low country, but thanks to the quick response of Sima's Army and the Câini de Fier, many strategic locations were held securely by fascists. The democrats held Bucharest and most of the farm country and Iași, cutting Nationalist Romania off from Moldova and the coastline, by which supplies might have be brought in. Sima's army was much larger than that of the Old Guard, victory in the air or sea, along with external aid, gave the democrats an advantage, culminating in the defeat of the Nationalist Legionary Front.
