The attempts, though their failures regrettable, would be followed on schedule by an otherwise unannounced invasion. The UK would meet the fate all tyrants deserve, and Ireland will bring it to them.
Operation: EARL GREY wrote: Marines, supported by naval aviation and escorts, land in Wales (108) to aggressively establish a beachhead for further landings and air support from Ireland (106), whereafter London is to be the primary target. The navy at large assumes a defensive posture.

Landing Forces:
  • 2 Carriers, Light
  • 2 Carriers, Fleet
  • 2 Units Bombers (Maritime Strike)
  • 1 Unit Warships, Heavy
  • 2 Units Warships, Medium
Pending Reinforcements:
  • 2 Units Armour
  • 6 Units Mechanised Infantry
  • 2 Units Artillery
  • 6 Units Fighters

The first sign of Victoria’s intervention in the United Kingdom was the arrival of its aircraft. They’d first flown to Victorian bases in the French Commune where they refueled, then flew on to attack their targets in England. The Royal Army Pilot Service deployed a mass of Victoria’s experienced air superiority fighters over England’s skies, their task to clear the way for, and escort, the SEAD and ground attack fighters that flew with them. The campaign targetted England’s landing fields, its anti-air batteries, and its command and control units wherever the Victorians could get at them, often doing so with uncanny precision.

And following on the heels of their fighters came the terror of any nation, the Seraphim bombers. The bombers were directed to key points of infrastructure, offices of government, and military positions by Victoria’s intelligence and their RIP agents on the ground. No fire, as yet, fell from the sky. Only death in more conventional forms.

A message was sent to British leadership shortly before the air attack arrived. It simply read, "Justice for past sins.”

OOG-
Attacking Territory 107 with 9 units of Fighters and 5 of Bombers.

"We don't have much to gain out of this, do we?" asked Hajji.

"We get to learn how dog fighting works, how bombing works, and get valuable hands on training otherwise. plus, it looks good to our friends on the emerald island."
"but yeah, you're right. physically, we gain little from this. We're not here for that."

"It seems we're here to piss off england."
"Yes. and? They invaded us not too long ago."
Hajji nodded.
..."but who invited the victorians?"
a significant fleet is deployed: 3 points CVL's, 1 point of submarines, 2 points of cruisers, and 2 points of destroyers.

The skies above the United Kingdom was alight with tracers from ground-based anti-air guns, firing upwards to attempt to stop the overflowing tide of Irish and Victorian aircraft in their campaigns to destroy. The naval landing was not entirely unexpected, though the speed of which it came did prove to be a shock to British command as units from the Highlands were ordered down to the Midlands in order to reinforce what was expected to be a tough slog in Wales. Despite this, British air forces did find themselves having to temporarily relocate their units as the Irish bombs were beginning to inch dangerously close to their bases. Undeterred, the RAF took to the skies not just to engage the Irish, but also attempt to stop the Victorians from destroying the shell of the Empire.

Ultimately, however, plucky attitudes and a stiff upper lip did little to bridge the gap between mid-40s fighters and modern jet fighters. The RAF claimed a good number of kills on Irish bombers, but success against the Victorians proved fleeting as British pilots complained that their speedy foes were "rather unsporting" in the game of being shot down. Despite unhampered bombing runs, moves were made to prepare the British Army for a planned reconquest campaign of Wales, as it did appear the Irish were focusing their efforts there.

Out at sea, the planned Irish landing was almost immediately intercepted by the Royal Navy. The British threw their full weight at the incoming landing forces, a naval battle soon developing that prevented any sort of landing operation from being undertaken without disastrous results. British naval forces focused primarily on engaging the enemy carriers with their own carrier-based aircraft, launching a CAG to keep the skies clear and flood the narrow ocean with torpedoes to make Irish maneuvering difficult. The lighter ships, small gunboats meant primarily to counter pirate raids and keep Communist privateers from France away, did not fare well against larger guns and subsequently sank, with lighter frigates and destroyers suffering varying amounts of damage as a result.

It seemed the fight for the Isles was just beginning.

OOC: In their attacks, Ireland rolled a 4 and a 9 for air and naval actions, respectively. This results in 1 unit of naval losses and 2 units of naval damages for the United Kingdom. The only air action was a bombing campaign which resulted in 4 Industry lost, 2 units of ground losses, 6 Industry damaged, 3 units of ground damages for the United Kingdom.

In their attacks in Territory 108, the United Kingdom rolled a 1 and a 2 for air and naval actions. This results in 3 units of air losses, 4 units of air damages, 1 unit of naval losses and 2 units of naval damages for Ireland. A bombing campaign resulted in 2 units of ground losses and 2 units of ground damages for Ireland.

In their attacks in Territory 107, Victoria rolled a 5 for air actions. This results in 3 units of air losses and 4 units of air damages. A bombing campaign resulted in 4 Industry lost, 2 units of ground losses, 6 Industry damaged and 3 units of ground damages.

In their attacks in Territory 107, the United Kingdom rolled a 3 for air actions. This results in 1 unit of air losses and 1 unit of air damages for Victoria.

All British naval points move to the waters outside Territory 108 as no other naval attacks take place for the British to defend against. British units in Scotland (1 unit light infantry, 1 unit artillery, 1 unit mechanized infantry, 2 units fighters) move to Territory 107 in preparation to move to Territory 108.

British casualties are as follows:

Territory 108:
1 unit artillery lost (no other ground casualties possible)
1 unit coastal warships lost
1 unit coastal warships damaged
1 unit light warships damaged

Territory 107:
3 units fighters lost
2 units fighters damaged (2 units double-damaged, leading to loss)
1 unit light infantry lost
1 unit motorized lost
3 units artillery damaged

Iranian naval points shall participate in combat during the next round of posting due to transit time. The Irish landing is contested by British naval units, and Ireland must either force the units elsewhere or destroy them in order to continue the landing.

What should have been a rapid strike against the British had blown up in their faces, their commandos shot, their marines and several ships sunk, their bombers shot down. An embarrassment to be sure, but there was no going back now. The Aimiréal of The Fleet called off any landing attempt for the time being, instead focusing on the Royal Navy that had come to park on his doorstep. He would loose the entire Naval Service upon them. All ships on station would move to the Irish Sea, reinforcing what remained of the ill-fated vanguard. Land-based fighters were scrambled to clear the skies over the Irish Sea and assert air superiority.

Reinforcements entering 108:
3 Units Submarines
2 Units Coastal Warships
5 Units Light Warships
7 Units Medium Warships
8 Units Fighters

Casualties in 108:
2 Units Light Carriers Lost
2 Units Bombers Lost
1 Unit Medium Warships Lost
1 Unit Medium Warships Damaged
1 Unit Heavy Warships Damaged

The Red Star fleet combines with Ireland's for better coordination against the royal navy. submarines are deployed ahead of the fleet to attack targets of opportunity and scout out the fleet first. no attacks on the mainland are committed to by the CVL's, until requested by the IRAN. (hah. Irish republican army navy. the ambiguity increases with every step. IRAN orders Iran for now.)
the GMC's and DD's are deployed in defensive lines, in the meantime.

The Victorian Royal Army Pilot Service was victorious over Britain. The vast majority of their enemy's forces were defeated, and they remained ready to destroy what resistance might remain. And so it was that the Seraphim flew, escorted by fighters, over Britain. The Seraphim squadrons, known for raining down fire, instead dropped unceasing storms of iron upon the English. The bombing campaign conspicuously avoided attacking Wales and Scotland, focusing instead on the English.

OOG-
Same air units as before, bombing the hell out of territory 107.

If Irish or SRA forces request RAPS air support, they'll fly over to help out in other territories as well as air support.

As with many things, the SRA was slow to react to changing world situations. Thus, mere minutes after deployment in France, the First Field Army immediately realigned to set its sights on the United Kingdom, with the 1st Fleet, for the most part prepared to go into action, sailed over from ports along the East Coast.

OOC: No SRA attack this round due to transit time.

EDIT: Total points arriving next round for the SRA, assuming the UK doesn't surrender before then:

4 units motorized
4 units armor
4 units artillery
4 units Warships, Heavy
5 units Warships, Medium
4 units fighters
