Given Kuwait's generous oil reserves and position as one of the more powerful states aside from its larger, perhaps more aggressive neighbors, Kuwait has good reason to be paranoid.

This paranoia was almost directly the cause of its expansive military spending, with a near top-shelf air force, and an army that trained and exercised daily. If nothing else, perhaps this paranoia translated into a proper advantage for a nation surrounded by potential enemies, with nowhere to go but six feet down.
