A reply was sent back;
To whom it may concern,

We in Lisbon are unaware of any imprisonment of a citizen of Aragon. Regardless, if the people have decided a crime has been committed and a person has been imprisoned as a result of that crime we will most certainly investigate the matter internally and deal with it internally. Your envoy is welcome to stay in the Aragonese embassy in Lisbon.

Regards;
The People's Council of Portugal

True to their word, the envoy arrived at Aragon's embassy. More a deer than a man, he looks like he'd rather be anywhere else than where he found himself. Despite this, he didn't seem to need to be strong-armed into staying course, as he came very clearly alone, sweat-drenched his wrinkled suit may be. He was received uneventfully by the staff, who simply put him up in one of their bedrooms. For several hours afterwards, passersby on the streets would endure extended bouts of exasperated shouting emanating strongly from within that embassy, and for a while afterwards taking quite some time to dispel. The words carried on those hoarse bellows were muddled and unclear, but the tone of desperation was crystal clear, as if it were a matter of life and death. And so the envoy would wait, though still quite impatiently, for a meeting with a Portuguese representative.

A few hours later, the representative was brought to a meeting room in Lisbon's government halls, where a handful of Portuguese civilian officials waited. Tea, coffee, water and light snacks were available should the Aragonese representative feel inclined to indulge, with notebooks handy for the Portuguese to take notes and record down what they heard - or thought they heard. "I believe we have a topic of some importance to discuss," the gentleman in the center said.

Shaking as he took a seat, the envoy visibly attempted to calm himself with a cup of tea, creating a great deal of clattering and spillage as the cup jittered in his hands. When this did nothing, he set the tea down and stood, all the while making no indication he had registered the existence of the other people in the room. Up until now. He stood before the panel before him, and made direct eye contact with the gentleman in the centre. What the gentleman saw in his eyes may have rightly shook him, for these were not the eyes of a nervous wreck as he may have rightly assumed. No, this was the gaze of something more animal than man - the deranged look of a thoroughly broken individual, of some thing more than some one, of one who would greet death with a vicious and savage attack of tooth and nail. His mouth opened but what came out could not rightly be called speech, no, it was a primal howl of raw passion that simply bore a passing resemblance to speech.

"There is no discussion to be had with impious dogs such as yourselves, only a reckoning of death as Her angels descend upon this place to cleanse us all of our sins! I have seen clearly now my purpose and so shall you all! You will face salvation by the grace of Providence and be Judged accordingly, as is Her divine right and mandate! No sin shall go unpunished in Her crusade but no earthly punishment can be so great for the magnitude of your transgressions! You are all already damned, and it is Her duty to send you to the pit where you belong! Mercy and forgiveness are beyond your reach!"

Even as security had seized him, he continued on, even as his voice began to disintegrate. Not long afterwards, another cable arrived from Aragon, punctuated shortly thereafter by the Aragonese military advancing over the border towards Lisbon.
We, Royal Princess Ofelia I of Aragon, do hereby Exercise Our Right as the True and Lawful Sovereign of this Land, to Enforce my Rule in Our Disloyal and Rebellious Territory of Lusitania. We Demand of the People of Lusitania to Recognise the Authority of their Rightful Ruler. Resistance will be Met with Full force. This will be Our final Communication with the occupying Traitor-Government.
