The Quintuple Entente (WEST)
Re: The Quintuple Entente (WEST)
The Italian representative does make a fair point, and as the majority of the proposal is effectively identical to our own, and the alterations are agreeable, the Italian proposal is supported by Aragon. With a caveat. The world has seen all-too-well what results from a plan that does not involve a long-term commitment after the fighting is over - simply look to Kazakhstan for your prime example. Austria is a poor and divided nation, it will not be able to stand on its own even in ten years time. Without a comprehensive nation-building exercise to prop up a new, lasting government, we damn them to a fate no better than those nations that the foreign vultures "help". We must be better than that, we must make Austria a shining example to the world of what we are capable of. Such an undertaking, of course, would be a heavy burden, and as the eminent economic power here, it is one that Aragon will shoulder the brunt of, and the first project that we will set up for the EEC as its sitting president.
