Serbian observers in Russia report that Imperial Russian Army and Soviet Army units have clashed in light border skirmishes the past week. The Serbian report notes that they believe Imperial Russian Army units may have provoked Soviet units to respond.

The Principality of Aragon brings forth a representative from the French Republic, as the nation of France once again finds itself in a state of civil war and the people of Spain once again lend their aid. For the last decade the French Commune, in their position of power as granted by the Victorian peace, has ruthlessly oppressed the Republic and violently suppressed all attempts to amicably resolve the Republic's grievances, forcing the people of France to take up arms if they are to escape the slavish working conditions and starvation policies instituted by the Commune. It is not a resumption of the hostilities previous, no, it is a fight for the liberation of the people of France from an unjust, unwelcome, and malevolent regime that would like nothing more than to see their people driven before them. It is for this reason that the Republic does once again come before the UN in seek of assistance in its darkest hour, asking for sanctions against the Commune and a UNDF deployment to France to see the Commune's retribution halted and the Republic liberated. It is the hope of a people that a repeat of the past does not come to pass.

Naturally, Aragon is in favour of sanctions and intervention.

Victoria votes against the Aragonian proposal and urges its fellows on the Security Council to do the same. The French Republic fought a war of aggression against the Commune once before and lost, and now wishes to rewrite history and portray themselves as victims. No effort was made by the supposedly oppressed people of the Republic to reach out for aid to any of the nations that could have provided it. No requests were made of the WHIP, or the Red Cross, or of the UN itself. The Republic, as before, has jumped straight to force of arms and the shedding of blood. Such behaviour Victoria cannot condone.

The representative of the Republic of China points out that as the political context and current state of the French Commune are well known to the majority of the General Assembly, the Aragonese case for intervention basically boils down to the old American colloquialism of "Who are you going to believe? Me? Or your lyin' eyes?"

China votes against intervention.

After consideration, Korea opts to abstain; noting that whilst the Republic's tale might well hold merit, Victoria's point - that the Republic made no effort to settle its grievances amicably in the past - did ring true.

The Aragonese representative reminds the Assembly that, despite the Victorian representative's sureity to the contrary, when it comes to which side of the previous French Civil War was truly the aggressor, the most strictly fact-based conclusion that can be drawn from the evidence available is that it cannot be known, and further, that circumstantial observations would seem indicate that the Republic is unlikely or at least doubtful to have been the aggressor. As for the Victorian representative's other accusation, that the Republic since then has made no effort for an amicable solution, Aragon is happy to provide evidence to the contrary, at least, what documents were, ample as they may be, able to survive the Commune's ire, courtesy of our guest from the Republic.

France has proven itself to be a decent and reasonable state actor in its deployments to Iran and assistance in key American strategic endeavors, and this insurgent, illegal "republic" has little hope of succeeding in its goals. The SRA votes against intervention and sanctions, noting that any attack on American troops in France will be seen as an act of war and Atlanta will not hesitate to respond with the appropriate military force.

The Delegate of the Republic of China congratulates the Kingdom of Victoria on its acquisition of a functional nuclear deterrent, and expresses the sincere assurance that Her Majesty's Government will exercise their ownership of their newly acquired nuclear arsenal with restraint and responsibility.

Astonishingly, he managed to do this without exhibiting even the faintest hint of sarcasm.

Given the ongoing situation in Central America - to wit, the Mexican Empire once against attempting to annex the Sonoran Federation - Korea proposes to the General Assembly that, barring objection from the Sonoran Federation, the UNDF be deployed to ensure the security of the nation in question and, if Mexico refuses to back down, to dismantle the Mexican Empire's military by force.
