The United Nations
Re: The United Nations
With every word, the Aragonese representative sank further into his seat. That was, until his Italian counterpart's outburst motivated him to swiftly excuse himself to his office, grabbing the emergency phone there located for a terse conversation with his sovereign, who herself would have a similar talk with her Italian counterpart. Returning to the assembly chambers with great haste, he politely approached the fiery Italian representative and with his attention exchanged a few hushed words, enough to propel the Italian out of the room himself.
The Aragonese representative then took to the floor. He announces that the Italian government will shortly be issuing a retraction of what their now-former-representative has, against their wishes, said and that there is no need for censure, enjoinment, sanctions, or any other such measure so-proposed here: we are all committed to resolving the Austrian civil war and none of us truly support any standing side, instead willing the establishment of a new and democratic Italian government, as well as being willing to deploy military forces to Austria to complete this mission. We see no reason for conflict here on this, we're all on the same side here.
WEST is more than happy and willing to cooperate with the UN, as I have previously said on this matter; what we have here is a failure to communicate. We propose the creation of a UNDF task force out of WEST and mercenary forces, with any other nation willing to participate welcome to further assist, to compensate for the impressive size of the Italian commitment.

Just as Aragon's representative left a member of the Italian delegation was handed a packet of paper, and upon pulling out the papers she makes a heavy sigh and stands to make a statement in place of the now former Italian representative.
"I, on behalf of Her Majesty Margherita II, by the Grace of God Queen of Italy, would like to apologize for my colleague's outburst. As of now I am the new Italian Representative to the UN. Italy formally withdraws its motions for censure, enjoinment, and sanctions against the SRA. Italy would also amend the previous motion to allow for a full representative from the UN to attend the peace conference in Milan, without the previous stipulations. Italy would be willing to negotiate reduction its military presence in Austria at the peace conference. Until the peace conference Italian forces will be ordered into a defensive posture. I hope the esteemed members of this assembly will understand that this is the most I can offer right now, my colleague's actions earlier have caused great damage to Italy's reputation amongst its peers, but allowing any more than that would cause damage to its reputation amongst it's citizens, which it cannot afford right now. Italy is committed to seeing a swift and peaceful resolution to the situation in Austria and hopes that we can continue working towards that end."

Given the Italian statement, Korea withdraws its motion of censure and enjoinment, and suggests a vote be held regarding the declaration of a UNDF mission in Austria.

Re: The United Nations
"Not long ago violence has erupted in South Italy by forces from a group calling itself 'Democracy Forward!'. It is a truly saddening to see such measures being taken without due consideration for other options. The Kingdom of Italy formally condemns the violence conducted by the revolutionary forces of 'Democracy Forward!' and the incompetence of the South Italian government for allowing the situation to come to blows. I know I can speak not only for my self, but for Queen Margherita II, when I say that our hearts ache for the hardships facing our fellow Italians during these turbulent times. In order to swiftly quell the violence North Italy asks that both the South Italian government, and the 'Democracy Forward!' revolutionaries accede to an occupation force consisting of their North Italian brothers and sisters. Further more North Italy is commited to preventing further violence, as such the Kingdom of Italy proposes a series of bilateral reconciliation talks between north and south italy in hopes of resolving the present violence, and further to prevent another unfortunate incident like the one on our border that occured a few years ago. Finally, the Kingdom of Italy requests an impartial UN mediator for the talks and would have the occupation be a formal UNDF deployment with participation from the esteemed members of the UN Security Council. The Kingdom of Italy sees this as more than just a chance for a resolution to South Italy's internal problems, but for resolving the issues of the Italian peninsula as a whole."

Re: The United Nations
Atlanta shares North Italy's sentiments in regards to Democracy Forward!'s disregard for attempting to find peaceful solutions to their grievances with the Italian state, but we fundamentally disagree that North Italy should take the lead in securing peace in the area. North Italian troops invaded the southern Italian state nearly a decade ago, and many of the dead and wounded undoubtedly remember seeing soldiers from the Kingdom's armies surrounding Rome and searching aid workers that were attempting to help. It is the opinion of Atlanta that the presence of North Italian troops would spark more violence rather than quell it, and we remain suspicious of North Italian intentions in the area.
To that end, the SRA votes in favor of a UNDF mission but rejects North Italy's proposal, and moves to deny North Italy direct involvement in the UNDF mission.

Re: The United Nations
The SRA's assertion that any potential emotional wounds our kingdom may have inflicted upon the People's Republic of Italy's people are too fresh is debatable at best, and at worst a pathetic attempt to deny us the chance at reconciliation. Further more Atlanta's apparent belief that searching people entering a warzone is unreasonable is frankly baffling. If anything it would be unreasonable and extremely careless to not search them, its just as much for their safety and the safety of other civilians as it is for ours. Milan understands that the SRA believes that it is acting righteously, and as such will make no formal motions against the SRA, but we ask our fellow members to reject the SRA's motion, and afford us the opportunity to show that our dedication to reconciliation and peace is serious by voting in favour of our motion.

Re: The United Nations
Korea supports the SRA's proposal, noting that even if (and it is indeed an 'if') any grievances over North Italy's decade-old invasion of their southern neighbour are indeed settled, even the mere appearance of north Italy using the UN mission as a cover to forcibly annex south Italy would be highly damaging to both the UNDF as an institution and to Italy's international reputation.
