Lake Placid, New York Socialist Republic. The SRA had finally won enough medals and performed well enough to be given the chance to host the Winter Olympics, an honor that Atlanta did not overlook. Lake Placid had previously hosted the 1932 Winter Olympics, and the fact that 36 years later it hosted it again was nothing short of amazing. The village itself may have only claimed about 1,500 people to its name, but the entire populace of not just Lake Placid but the surrounding area were mobilized to build a new Olympic Village for the upcoming Games, as well as transform the aging recreational facilities into modern representations of American spirit and ingenuity.

Of course, security was also a primary concern. Soldiers of the SRA's 9th Infantry Division "Old Reliables" were dispatched to keep watch over the events, ensuring counterrevolutionaries and potential security threats would not find success in their disgusting activities. All that mattered to Atlanta was presenting the best face of American socialism to the world, and providing a showcase to the Socialist nations that arrived of how to expand Socialism to every facet of their populations.
