The fires of liberation of revolution forged the Union, beginning with the overthrow of a corrupt Irish Republic that saw the island reorganise into a coalition of four provinces. These Free Provinces of Ireland would eventually take on the United Kingdom, weak from the ravages of the flu. Through their valiant fighting, they saw these islands freed from their oppressive regimes.
The Union is composed of the states of Ulster, Connacht, Leinster, Munster, Scotland, Mann, Wales, Cornwall, and Northumbria. Each state is a republic and possesses high autonomy. The territory known as the Pale is administered directly by the federal government. The Oireachtas is the legislature of the Union. It is a single chamber of publically elected and proportionally representative senators from each state. The Taoiseach and their cabinet are senators elected by the Oireachtas, they serve as both cabinet members and senators. The cabinet consists of the Tánaiste and the ministers of Defense, Justice, Interior, Welfare, and Finance. Instead of terms, an annual national referendum is held to dissolve the government and call general elections.

Irish News Media
Believing in the right to a free press being instrumental in maintaining the health and wellbeing of a nation, there are several popular news publications circulated widely throughout the Provinces.
The Workers' Voice is the official state newspaper and is distributed by the Socialist Party.
By and for Ireland's moderate left, The Worker is a monthly tabloid.
The Irish Times is an inoffensive daily paper with highly respected reporters.
The Cork Examiner is the most popular paper in Ireland and is widely known for its investigative journalism.
The Irish Independent is a conservative paper interested in laying down the hard facts. They are well-known for their crass political cartoons.
