Dear President of the United States of America Gordon Weekes,
In the intervening years since Angola has thrown off the shackles of Portuguese tyranny and colonial rule, a move which I understand greatly parallels the United States' own path to independence, Angola has grown to be a robust democracy which serves as a bastion and shining light for all nascent democracies in Southern Africa to look to and be inspired by. It is my sincere hope that in our shared struggles and similar values the American and Angolan people can become steadfast friends and even better allies. Therefore, I would like to personally visit the United States and see the birthplace of democracy as I understand it, and to produce this close friendship and mutual understanding that I know only Americans can bring.
I eagerly await your reply.
Signed, President of the Republic of Angola Maximiliano Cordeiro
